1. Is the Freedom Gateway only for the hotel environment?
Absolutely not. The Freedom solution can be used in any environment where you would like to provide Internet access. In addition to many hotels, other clients include public schools, golf resorts, gymnasiums, conference centres, Internet café's, bars and sports stadia. [TOP]

2. If I install a Freedom HotSpot Gateway now and extend my property in the future, will I need to buy another Gateway device?
No - the Freedom solution is completely scaleable. Once installed and functional, the Internet service can be provided to new extensions as and when they are built, or to areas of the building where it was previously decided not to provide Internet access. Simply connect the installed Freedom unit to additional wireless access points or wall-mounted network sockets. [TOP]

3. My hotel is a listed building, so may be difficult to cable. Are there any alternatives?

Yes. To distribute the Internet signal around a building, Freedom HotSpot can use one of three methods: Direct cabled connection to wall-mounted sockets. Wireless access points installed at strategic locations (cabled back to the Freedom Gateway unit). DSLAM technology - the use of existing telephone cables to carry the broadband signal to hotel guest rooms. DSLAM will give you the option to distribute the service with no extra cabling work required whatsoever. [TOP]

4. I would like to provide fixed wall sockets in some rooms, and wireless in other areas. Do I need two Freedom Gateway units?
No - a single unit can provide both methods of connectivity simultaneously. [TOP]

5. I manage a chain of coffee-shops and would like my guests to be able to access the Internet from all my properties. Will they need to pay for a new PIN or password each time?
No - the Freedom Gateway supports RADIUS server technology (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Services). This technology allows the storage of your customers' passwords or PIN numbers on a central server, allowing their account to be accessed from any of your locations. MultiNet Services can install a RADIUS system for you - call 0845 363 1165 for a quote. Alternatively, you could take advantage of the comprehensive support package with cost effective tailored options to suit your business. [TOP]

6. Will my guests and visitors need to change settings on their computer?
None whatsoever. The Freedom Gateway allows computers to connect to the Internet without the need to change any settings. [TOP]

7. How easy is the Freedom HotSpot to manage after it has been installed?

If you can open a web page on a computer you can access the easy-to-use management utilities. Fully configurable from your own computer, the Freedom Gateway also allows you full access to user statistics and revenue reports from anywhere. However, we provide a fully managed service to take care of all parts of the service, including facilitating broadband if required. [TOP]

8. How can I make money from the Freedom HotSpot?

The Freedom HotSpot allows you to charge what you like, how you like, when you like and best of all keep 100% of the revenue. You can charge for Internet access using several methods: A hotel can bill a client directly by using the Freedom Gateway interface to the hotel PMS. The Freedom Gateway allows the creation of PIN's to sell to guests, conference attendees or walk-in customers. The Freedom HotSpot can also accept credit card transactions. Since you control the charging policy, you can also offer Internet access free of charge to selected visitors or guests (e.g. to reward guest loyalty or encourage repeat business, etc.) [TOP]

9. Can I use a special login page to promote my business and differentiate our services from that of competitors?
The log-in page can be completely customised to your requirements. Most of our clients choose to replicate the look and feel of their own website in order to use the screen for advertising of services both in the hotel and in the local area. This can also be sold as advertising space to local businesses. [TOP]

10. Does the HotSpot unit act as an Internet Gateway too? Does it have NATing?
The HotSpot unit is a gateway and does use Network Address Translation technology. [TOP]

11. PBX emulation. Can you please explain more?

All Property Management Systems (PMS) are designed to interface with a telephone exchange system (PBX) to allow guest telephone charges to be billed to their account. Rather than create a totally new interface and risk not being able to talk to one or more PMS's, the Freedom Gateway can pretend to be a PBX and reports each Internet authentication to the PMS in the same way that a true PBX system would for a telephone call. [TOP]

12. The Freedom HotSpot solution sounds great, how much does it cost?
The Freedom range has been designed to allow perfect matching with the venue concerned. The Freedom HotSpot solution can range from a simple hotspot version allowing 10 concurrent users to the comprehensive 'venue' model, allowing up to 300 concurrent users (either wired or wireless). (In addition to the Freedom Gateway itself you would need to consider additional cost items, such as a site survey, cabling or wireless access points (if required) and installation. Call 0845 363 1165, 0870 444 0651/2 or contact Freedom HotSpot for a quote. [TOP]

13. What is an Internet Terminal?
An Internet Terminal allows you to safely and securely access the internet, just as you would at home. [TOP]

14. How can I pay for access?
Internet Terminal access can be paid for by £1 coins or by credit card info which can be entered manually. [TOP]

15. Is my personal info safe?
Our Internet Terminals use special software which does not allow the Operating System and applications to be changed. Once you finish your surf session, the system will log you out and delete all information relating to your activities. Our software is compliant with the Data Protection Act. [TOP]

16. What speeds can I access the web?
Internet access on our terminals is at broadband rates. [TOP]
