Frequently Asked Questions

WiFi HotSpots
Where’s the Value in a Value Added Service?

Value added WiFi shows your customers and visitors you care but more so you empower than to be productive. By leveraging the organisation's online presence, 'end users' can use the Internet to deliver responses to their queries when they visit public sector buildings e.g. council buildings.

What is a Freedom HotSpot Gateway?

A Freedom HotSpot gateway allows you to offer controlled wireless Internet access at your location in a secure way and positive way.

What options can I offer my customers for giving them access to my HotSpot?

You can give access via PIN code vouchers, credit card access, free registration of end user info and (if you are a hotel) PMS integration.

Do I have to pay for vouchers or are they included in my monthly fee?

We are in the unique position to offer a batch of PINcode vouchers included in your monthly fee with the exception of the starter gateway solution (can be purchased separately).

Can I have a login page that looks like my website so my customers know they are logging into the correct WiFi service?

We can create a login page for that embeds your website. Any changes you make to your website are reflected on the login page automatically. Having a login page, helps ensure your customers know which service they’re logging into.

Is there a solution suited for my environment?

There are a number of Freedom HotSpot solutions available ranging from a small retail coffee shop to a large hotel and everything in between. Freedom Two and Three are fully expandable and can be added to a extended wireless network or fixed connection points if required.

How easy it is to have a HotSpot installed at my location?

Its’ very easy! We can pre-configure a gateway unit and send it to you a few days of ordering, ready to literally plug in with no changes required to your existing set up or your broadband router.  If you have an existing network that you want to incorporate, we can reconfigure this with a visit (sometimes remotely).

What do I need for a HotSpot to be installed at my location?

You will need a broadband connection that uses a router with a spare network port. This will be used for Freedom HotSpot to connect to the Internet. Oh and also a plug socket for power!

If you have a large environment and require a site survey this can be arranged subject to your specific requirement.

What marketing aspects are available to me at no extra cost?

If you have a website this can be integrated as a login portal. In addition we can provide marketing stands with login and sales info branded with you logo/name.  Depending on the package you purchase we have a range of options available.  Alternatively, you can collect email addresses for marketing purposes gathered as a part of the free login method, contact us for more details.

My business is more retail based (non eatery). What can a Freedom HotSpot do for me?

A Freedom HotSpot is about more than just offering great quality web access in a controlled manner. You can also use the gateway to broadcast your website to customers, allowing them to see your full range of products and services. They’ll only be able to access your website and any others you ask us to give free access to.

I have a hotel and have CAT5/data points on the walls; can a HotSpot work with this set up?

Yes, the HotSpot gateway can work your existing network whether its WiFi or CAT5 or indeed both.

Internet Terminals FAQ
What is a Freedom Internet Terminal?

An Internet Terminal from Freedom HotSpot is a free standing desk based solution sometimes referred to as an Internet Kiosk that allows you to provide controlled Internet access to your customers in a privacy specific manner. Your customers can surf the web, check emails, book travel tickets, access secure websites, update social networking pages (e.g. Facebook), print tickets and confirmations and much more.

What is the difference between a regular PC and one of our Internet Terminals?

The PC hardware (ie, main box, monitor, mouse, keyboard) is identical. The key difference is the way we configure it to ensure that it works in a controlled way and protects end users when they use it.

Freedom Internet Terminals include the following:

  1. Protection to ensure that the end users privacy is maintained from one use to another use. This is more important than ever with the prevalence of ID theft, which is in the news currently.
  2. The system is protected from hacking as there is no access to the operating system (e.g. Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 etc)
  3. Controlled usage using PIN code vouchers, coins, and credit cards.
  4. Content filtering from things like pornography and adult material.
  5. Allow or disallow downloads
  6. Use of printing services
  7. Branding for your business
  8. Auto shutdown at the end of the day, if required
  9. Anti virus software protection
  10. Disabled tools on the Terminal to prevent people using the machine as hacking workstations.
  11. Optional secure steel enclosure (with separate coin box) if required
What Support is Included?

Comrehensive support is always provided with every Freedom Internet Terminal solution. This includes remote support, back end server monitoring and hardware support.

How can control how customers/end users use the Terminal?

Usage can be controlled by time via PINcode vouchers. In addition, customers can pay using coins and their credit card.

My hospitality business have several locations where Terminals could be used but do not want to pay upfront or get into a lease agreement, are there any viable options for me?

Subject to minimum usage, you could be one of our elected premium sites we to invest in. This is on a site by site basis and is done on a revenue share basis.

Can we use this solution for market research?

Internet Terminals have integrated marketing features that can be programmed for market research functionality.

On the home screen, we can program a link (including image) to an online questionnaire facility such as survey monkey that you may have already setup. This can be configured to be outside the pay zone or walled garden and not prompt the end user for payment. In addition we can create a link for your business's website here also.
